Dr. Koenig is a fellowship trained orthopaedic surgeon with specialty interests in treating children, adolescents and sports related injuries. He grew up on Long Island in the suburbs of New York City as a tri-sport athlete. He went on to play varsity lacrosse at Yale University where he majored in the History of Science and Medicine. He attended medical school at the Albert Einstein College of Medicine in New York City. Throughout medical school, he served as a clinical research assistant at the Hospital for Special Surgery.

Dr. Koenig then went on to complete a five year orthopaedic surgery residency at Lenox Hill Hospital – home of the nation’s first official sports medicine department. His training included rotations at the world’s top institutions including Boston Children’s Hospital, Shock Trauma Center of Baltimore, and Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center. He served as Chief Resident during his final year, and prior to graduation, he completed a traveling fellowship at the Royal Children’s Hospital in Melbourne, Australia.

He finally left New York City for sunny Southern California and completed a one year Fellowship in Pediatric Orthopaedics and Scoliosis Surgery with the world renowned group at Rady Children’s Hospital in San Diego – the largest children’s hospital on the west coast and home to some of the most pre-eminent leaders in the field of Pediatric Orthopaedic Surgery. It is also the only level one pediatric trauma center south of Orange County treating children from San Diego to western Arizona and northern Mexico. Dr. Koenig brings his well travelled experience and knowledge to west Los Angeles where he resides with his wife Dani (a native Angeleno) and their baby girl, Harlow and Golden Retriever, Woody.
