Pediatric Orthopaedics, Sports Medicine, General Orthopaedic Surgery
Dr. Jonathan H. Koenig is a Board Certified and fellowship-trained orthopaedic surgeon with a specialty interest in treating children, adolescents, and sports-related injuries. He grew up as a tri-sport athlete on Long Island, in the suburbs of New York City. He went on to play varsity lacrosse at Yale University, where he majored in the History of Science and Medicine. He attended medical school at the Albert Einstein College of Medicine in New York City. Throughout medical school, he served as a clinical research assistant at the Hospital for Special Surgery.
Dr. Koenig completed a five-year orthopaedic surgery residency at Lenox Hill Hospital – home of the nation’s first official sports medicine department. As part of his training, he completed rotations at some of the world’s top institutions, including Boston Children’s Hospital, Shock Trauma Center of Baltimore, and Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center. He served as Chief Resident during his final year and, prior to graduation, completed a traveling fellowship at the Royal Children’s Hospital in Melbourne, Australia.
He eventually left New York City for sunny Southern California, where he completed a one-year fellowship in Pediatric Orthopaedics and Scoliosis Surgery with the world-renowned group at Rady Children’s Hospital in San Diego. Rady Children’s Hospital is the largest children’s hospital on the West Coast and home to some of the most pre-eminent leaders in the field of Pediatric Orthopaedic Surgery; it is also the only level one pediatric trauma center south of Orange County and treats patients from San Diego to western Arizona and northern Mexico.
Dr. Koenig brings his well-traveled experience and knowledge to West Los Angeles, where he resides with his wife Dani (a native Angeleno), their daughter, Harlow, baby boy Hudson and their Golden Retriever, Woody.
